Finally, after months of learning wordpress, themes development, content management systems, htaccess mod rewrites, database management, plugins and search engine optimisation, I have managed to build my new Oil Rig Photography website.
Hopefully on this website you will see industrial stock images in a refreshing new way. High quality stock photos from a different point of view plus a whole lot cheaper than the big names like Getty and Corbis.
On my oil rig photography website you will not only get stunning looking industrial images but ones that reek of quality. I use only the best photographic equipment to capture these photos, the Canon 5D mark II, all L-series lenses and capturing the images in the lowest ISO (less noisy) and largest quality setting (making the most of the 21.1 Megapixel full frame CMOS sensor and full frame lenses). These images can be safely enlarged to most sizes without losing any of the details of the original.
Enough about that, let’s get on to the latest images on the blog. All of these stock images were taken on my most recent trip to Brasil on the M/V Skandi Achiever. The vessel is a 2007-built, DOF owned vessel being chartered by Technip for ten years. The Skandi Achiever provides saturation dive support for offshore construction and Inspection, Repair and Maintenance (IRM) operations.
The Achiever was involved in diving operations beside the gas platform for most of the time I was onboard. Unfortunately this only allowed me to get one view of the rig, but due to the number of shift changes, photos were taken at all hours of the day and night.
A few of my favourites are shown in this blog post. If you click on any of the images here you will be linked through to their details page showing the EXIF information and full description. Please let me know what you think of the new website and if you have any suggestions for added functionality that you would like to see. Either use the comments form on any of the detail pages or through the price enquiry form on the sidebar.
The Mexilhão gas field is the largest undeveloped gas accumulation in the Brazilian Continental Shelf. The gas field lies in the Santos Basin in Brazil off the coast of Sao Paulo, approximately 160km offshore and in water depths of between 320m and 550m. Mexilhao has reserves estimated at 72 billion cubic meters of gas. The offshore gas field is wholly owned and operated by Petrobras.
The Mexilhão 1 platform is installed in a water depth of 172m is the largest offshore metallic structure ever erected in Brazilian waters. The platform stands 230m tall.
For more oil rig stock photo images from my trip to Brasil feel free to do a search from the sidebar. Amongst the oil rig photos you will also find photos of the deepwater pipelay vessel Deep Constructor which also worked on the project.
